Mini VETTEFEST 2022 RECAP

Valley Corvettes presented our

Mini VetteFest 2022

at

Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park

Meridian, ID

Saturday, July 23, 2022

Valley Corvettes has held the biennial premier Corvette show in the Pacific Northwest called VetteFest for many years. It is normally three fun-filled days of a Corvette cruise, drag racing, auto-cross, car show, awards banquet and socializing.

Due to COVID and other constraints, this year we sponsored a Mini VetteFest. It consisted of an all Corvette Car Show, Sponsor judging and awards, Raffles, Poker Run & prizes and an Ice Cream Social. All this in one jam packed day!

Larry Brown, 2022 Valley Corvettes Club President & Mini VetteFest Chair recapped the event as follows:

"As you all know, we had Mini VetteFest ’22 this last Saturday. It was a really comfortable 85-90 degree day with just a little wind. The crew started early (some earlier than others!) but we had everything ready to start excepting beautiful Corvettes around 7:15 in the morning. Linda Sager and her registration crew got everyone checked in with raffle tickets. I thought everything went pretty smooth even though we changed up the map to put the C1’s and C8’s in the front row to show the oldest and newest cars.

We again this year invited Snake River Corvettes to our show and they responded by bringing 6 cars up for Mini VetteFest. We were also honored to have 4 cars from Bellingham, WA, and one each from Utah and Arizona. We are always excited to have other clubs or individuals join us at VetteFest. In total we had 106 Corvettes attend the car show!!

When it came time to give away the raffle prizes, Debbie Johnson gave away some awesome prizes. The Rudeen brothers walked away with 2 prizes each!

Immediately after the prize drawings, we gave away the car show trophies to the winners of each class of Vette. They were as follows….

C1…Barry & Bobbi Blessin won for his 1961 Blue & White Racing Roadster

C2…Bob Huffley won for his beautiful 1967 Rally Red convertible

C3…Gary & Donna Saylor won for his hand built Blue 1969 Customized Stingray

C4…Noel & Tim Holt won for her 1987 Torch Red convertible

C5…William Rush from Bellingham, WA., won for his awesome custom 2004 Millennium Yellow roadster

C6…Tony Schuutzler won for his Black 2012 Grand Sport Centennial Edition convertible

C7…Sandy Blazer won for his 2019 Torch Red ZR1

C8…Dan & Sue Carpenter won for their beautiful Accellerate Yellow C8 coupe

At 12:30 p.m., Dan & Sugar Drummond began giving out the first of the poker chips for the Poker Run. Drivers left Kleiner Park on a pretty drive through Horseshoe Bend or Emmett, meeting at the final pickup stop at the College of Western Idaho (CWI) campus. Along the route, they picked up 3 more chips and got their last at CWI.

With the hot weather on Saturday, the ice cream floats served to everyone by organizer Debbie Johnson and helpers, was a huge hit with the crowd! Bobby Petersen then picked out poker chips one at a time to determine their values and everyone figured out their total score. Dan Kristovich won 1st prize and a $150 Amazon gift card. Dee Miller took 2nd Place (Amazon gift card of $100) won in a tie with Linda Leonard taking the 3rd place of a $50 Amazon gift card. Everyone who participated in the Poker Run had a lot of fun…it was definitely a hit! Thank you to Dan and Sugar for all of your hard work in bringing this new concept to VetteFest.

I must give a big THANK YOU to the almost 30 people who made this happen in just a few months!

Looking forward to VetteFest 2023 on July 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd, 2023. Mark you calendars early for our expanded 3-day event next year! Stand up and volunteer now to make this the best ever!"
